Details of bids made to government for funding under National Productivity Investment Fund

The County Council has submitted bids to the Department for Transport for funding for two transport improvement schemes.  These schemes are for Botley Road in Oxford and Tramway Road in Banbury.

The Botley Road scheme is aimed at improving facilities between Binsey Lane and Eynsham Road for cyclists and buses travelling out of the city.  The aim is to create a more consistent treatment along this section of roads and reduce conflicts between the different modes of travel.

The Tramway Road scheme will create a new link for buses and taxis into Banbury railway station and a new link into the station’s surface car park.  The aim is to take traffic away from the busy and congested Bridge Street / Cherwell Street junction and make bus travel times into the town centre more reliable.

The Department for Transport are expected to announce in the Autumn if these schemes have been accepted for funding.  If they are successful then work will start in 2018.
