Changes to Emergency First Aid and Epipen training

There have been recent changes to the revised national guidance for Paediatric first aid and providers responsibility for ensuring they have trained staff onsite.

Paediatric first aid

We recently alerted providers to the revised national guidance: Paediatric first aid: EYFS statutory framework amendments - GOV.UK and your responsibility for ensuring that you have suitably trained staff in the workplace to manage emergency medication such as epipens, if the need arises.   

Some settings may have used the Health Visiting Service, run by Oxford Health NHS Trust  to deliver training to their staff. This is not available now and you may need to make alternative arrangements.  

If your setting is part of a primary school you may be able to join training that is provided by the School Health Nursing Team.  There are also a number of reputable websites/organisations that provide online training suitable for early years settings see below:
