Travel and Information Management Policy | Oxfordshire County Council

Travel and Information Management Policy

How we can use technology to provide up-to-date travel information to the public.

This policy document sets out a vision for Travel and Information Management, focusing on how we can make the best use of technology to help manage our roads and provide meaningful, up-to-date information to the public. It sets out the policy aims and identifies the principles and good working practices to achieve them.

Travel and Information Management sits alongside and complements other strategic county council projects, helping to deliver the Local Transport Plan and the Network Management Plan.

The policy paved the way for the creation of our traffic control room and the procurement of intelligent transport systems. These enable us to manage the network in real time and provide the public and businesses with up-to-date real time travel information, through technology such as variable message signs on the highway and live travel information.
