Behind the front-line firefighters is a team of dedicated support staff keeping vital services running smoothly. The Fire Service needs support staff to help the uniformed operational personnel who are at the forefront of the service fighting fires and performing essential and statutory fire safety duties.

We have over 50 members of support staff working in finance and planning, IT and communications work, secretarial and administrative roles. Teams of hydrant inspectors to maintain water supplies, workshop and vehicle mechanics to maintain the fleet of emergency vehicles.

We also employ Community Safety advocates working with members of the community to drive down risk.

  • Advise businesses, local residents and educational organisations on fire safety.

  • Responsible for the organisations health and safety obligations.

  • Responsible for reviewing performance of the organisation.

Mapping and data management

  • Responsible for managing data and forecasting outputs and needs.

Statistical analysis

  • Analysing statistics and data.

Fleet vehicle management

  • Responsible for maintaining fire appliances and vehicles.
