Good Ofsted rating

"We have been judged by Ofsted to provide a good standard of care and protection for children and young people in Oxfordshire. We are one of only ten authorities to have received this rating."

We will listen to you

"We provide staff with regular opportunities to voice their ideas and concerns via listening events and regular supervision and ensure that senior managers are visible and protect time to provide colleagues with advice and support whenever they need it."

No blame culture

"It is a difficult time for social workers as they are increasingly in the spotlight and are often blamed in the media. We don’t adopt a blame culture here, instead, we take every opportunity to reflect on problems and learn so that we continually improve the way we work. We protect our Social Workers and support them through regular reflective supervision, development opportunities and robust support mechanisms.

We are committed to getting caseloads down. In the event a team struggles we strive to identify why this might be – we look into the issues, add additional staff if needed, and streamline processes."

Values are put into action

"Our approach to work is values based – anyone can say that but here, you see it, live it, breathe it – everyone is genuinely committed to getting the best possible outcomes for children and young people and this makes it a motivating environment to work in."

A dedicated legal team

"Our legal team know our social workers and courts and offer the best possible support for social workers and their families – this makes a difference to the outcomes for children and their families."

Training and development

"There is a strong developmental ethos in Oxfordshire – we wholeheartedly support Social Workers to meet their professional aspirations."
