Oxfordshire Way

Downloadable maps and directions for this 65 mile walk from the Cotswolds to the Chilterns.

The Oxfordshire Way winds through Oxfordshire from Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire to the banks of the River Thames in Henley. The route passes through a mosaic of contrasting landscapes and settlements including two areas of outstanding natural beauty; the pretty rolling Cotswold Hills and the Chilterns; plus some fascinating countryside in between.;

Please note that there are a number of stiles along the route

You can see the route of the Oxfordshire Way displayed on the map below. The dots mark the towns and villages mentioned in the downloadable route sections. Click on the dots to display more information about these places. Double click on the map to zoom in and see more clearly where the route goes, or use the scale bar on the left. You can move the map around by clicking, holding and dragging.

Download maps and directions

We have developed free downloadable maps and directions for the whole of the Oxfordshire Way.   You can either download a very large sized file containing all of these maps together, or you can download maps for particular sections of the route.

Maps for each stretch of the route also show the location of points of historical and geological interest. If you are interested in these, you can download the accompanying points of interest file for that section. Alternatively, you can download a large sized file that contains points of interest for the whole route.

Pub logos shown on the maps by the yellow pint glass are purely an indication that a pub exists at this point.  The maps do not show every pub in the area indicated nor recommend those that are shown. The council has not tested every pub along the route!

Guidebook

We still have copies of our guidebook to the Oxfordshire Way available. Please note however that the revised edition was printed in 2004 and the walking information contained in the book is somewhat out of date with maps and directions more difficult to follow ... but it's still a nice read as it's got additional information in it.

The book costs a reduced rate of £2 plus postage and packing and is available to order from us.
