Help applying for teaching jobs

Help for newly qualified teachers to find their first job in Oxfordshire.

Applying for teaching posts in Oxfordshire is easy. You can view all vacancies and apply online via our recruitment website.

By registering, you can save your personal details, qualifications and employment history so that they will be automatically uploaded onto each application form.

Have your personal statement ready and saved as a Word document that you can copy and paste into the relevant skills and experience section of the application form. You will need to do this for each individual application you make.

You can also register your interest in primary, secondary or special school teaching jobs and you will receive email alerts when suitable vacancies arise. The system is updated every night.

How will I know when schools have received my application?

You will receive an automated email from the e-recruit system.

What can I expect when a school contacts me?

If your application is short-listed, the school will contact you to invite you to an interview. This is an opportunity to ask for further information about the position. We strongly recommend that you ask to visit the school prior to interview if possible.

What if I am not able to attend the interview?

You should let the school know as soon as possible. If it is due to circumstances beyond your control, you might want to liaise with the headteacher to see if an alternative date can be arranged. If it is because you have already accepted another position you should let the headteacher know this.
