Inspiring Play newsletter

Inspiring Play is produced four times a year by the Oxfordshire Play Association on behalf of Oxfordshire Play Partnership. You can read the latest edition on the Oxfordshire Play Association website.

  • Orinoco Scrapstore stocks a wide range of scrap items for art, play and creative projects, as well as new art materials, household paint and DIY materials. Based in Oxford, with the Scrapmobile available to visit your own venue or setting
  • ScrapstoresUK has a directory of scrapstores, and case studies highlighting the social, environmental and economic contribution scrapstores make to society.
  • Oxfordshire Play Association has a range of play boxes for hire.

    Herefordshire Nature Trust shows ways to get the most from your local park, meadow playground, stream or woods. You can download the kitbag from this website.

  • Pioneer Thinking: Children's Crafts
    Has a large selection of links to craft projects.
  • Activity Village
    Ideas and activities for children, including crafts, puzzles and sudoku, often with reference to holidays, festivals and seasons.  Currently featuring the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics.

    Lots of activity ideas and free downloads

Activity books

  • 4Children has an online library of information and news. 4Children is the national charity dedicated to creating opportunities and building futures for all children, they have a range of play activity publications including the 'Can Do' series of books.
  • London Play has put together some suggested reading about play.
  • Common Threads have a range of books of activities on their website.
