It's free to join a library. Find out how to join and borrow books, DVDs and other media.
How to join
You can join online or fill in an application form (available from any Oxfordshire library) and provide some identification, such as a driving licence. Anyone under 15 needs to provide guarantor details. There is nothing to pay.
Who can join a library?
Everyone is welcome: adults and children alike are free to browse, read books, newspapers or magazines, ask for information and join in organised activities.
In order to borrow books or to hire DVDs or other media, you will need to join the library. Membership is free and open to everyone living in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Above all, library services are provided for you. No-one is too young or too old to join the library. Our staff are eager to help you get the most from your service. Just ask!

It is usually up to twenty books at any one time. There are separate limits for other media. Please ask for our current leaflet on hiring CDs, DVDs, audio books and CD-ROMs.
How long you can keep them
Normally three weeks for books. Other media are hired by the week. The date of return is stamped on the date label.
If you haven't finished with them
You can renew books by telephone, post, by using the online borrower services or at the library unless someone else is waiting for them. You will need a PIN for some of these services, which you can get by taking your library card to any Oxfordshire library. You must pay an additional hire charge for other media.
What it costs
Most services are free. We charge for special requests.
