Eco Schools is an international award programme that helps schools to encourage learning about sustainable development issues, and to integrate sustainable practices into everyday school life. There are thousands of Eco-Schools across the world, which can get in touch with each other to explore ways of working together on environmental issues.
Topic areas
The Eco Schools Scheme works through 9 key topic areas: Biodiversity, Energy, Global Citizenship, Healthy Living, Litter, Recycling, School Grounds, Transport and Water. More information is available through the Eco Schools website.
Download a free support pack to help develop your Eco Schools work across each of the topic areas. It is packed with key contacts, case studies, funding sources, teacher training, useful websites and resources.
Sustainable Schools is designed to support schools on their journey to sustainability. It covers a whole range of areas, including food and drink, energy and water, travel and traffic, purchasing and waste, and buildings and grounds.
It includes guidance and a training pack for school governors, a bursar's guide to sustainable school operation, resources for teachers and an audit tool to help schools evaluate their impact.
