Children’s centres are for children under five and their families, and offer a variety of services that families may need to thrive and make the most of life’s opportunities, whatever their background or circumstances.
Children's centres act as a central point where families can find a wide variety of activities, play, information and support from professionals working in a wide range of fields and organisations. These professionals team up to share information and work together to ensure that our youngest residents:
Are healthy
Stay safe
Enjoy and achieve
Make a positive contribution
Achieve economic well-being
The services vary according to need in each of the 29 areas that Oxfordshire’s children’s centres are situated but predominately include:
play times for children
advice, support and learning opportunities for parents & carers
health services such as antenatal classes
a place to meet people and make friends
Many children’s centres run activities for fathers and all children’s centres encourage all parents and carers to join in to contribute to the life of the centre and to shape and steer its services. In some centres everything happens in one building while at others activities take place in a number of venues. Each centre has its own page on this website, listed below, with all the information you will need to join in and benefit from what the centre has to offer.
