Need an answer fast, or simply curious about something? Try Oxfordshire Libraries' countywide information service.
What is Answers Direct?
The countywide enquiry service from Oxfordshire Libraries which provides a quick, professional response to information enquiries by phone, fax, letter or email. It is for everyone in Oxfordshire, not just library members.
What sort of questions do we answer?
We can provide answers to questions big and small on anything and everything, providing contact details; company and legal information; facts; general knowledge and sources of homework help - although we don't write homework answers for you. Why not let information librarians take the strain from your searching and save you time? Our service standards.
How do I contact the service?
phone the Answers Direct team on 0845 600 3119 from Monday to Thursday, 9am to 7pm, and Friday and Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm. You can leave a message outside these hours.

What about other times?
If you phone or email us outside our office hours we will get back to you on the next working day. If you require an answer before then you can contact the People's Network Enquire service which is staffed 24/7 by librarians across the UK and United States.
Who will answer the questions?
A team of librarians with many years' experience of information and enquiry work using the comprehensive print and electronic resources of Oxford Central Library and Reference Online.
Our resources include:
encyclopedias and standard reference works
directories and databases
books, leaflets and online fact sheets on all aspects of starting up your own business
key UK and overseas statistics
UK and European Union legislation
current newspapers and magazines
accounts of historic events as reported in The Times (1785 to date), or The Illustrated London News (1842 to 1996)
online subscription services, some of which you can also use from home via Reference Online.
And if we can't find an answer?
If we can’t find the answer ourselves, we will do our best to refer you to an appropriate organisation or more specialist library which may be able to help further.
