Children's centres
Children’s centres offer children under five and their families, whatever their background or circumstances, all the services they need to thrive and make the most of life’s opportunities.
Children's centres act as a central point where families can access information and services from a team of professionals working in a wide range of fields and organisations. These professionals team up to share information and work together to ensure that our youngest residents
- Are healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being
These services can vary according to needs in each of the 29 areas that Oxfordshire’s children’s centres are situated but predominately include:
- Care and education for children from birth until they start school
- Child and family health services including antenatal classes
- Advice and support for parents and families
You will have access to drop-in and stay and play sessions and health advice and services to help you before and after the birth of your baby. If you are looking for advice on training or getting a job, your local children’s centre can help with that too.
Many children’s centres run activities for fathers and all children’s centres encourage all parents and carers to join in to contribute to the life of the centre and to shape and steer its services. Sometimes all services are provided in one building and sometimes in a range of venues.
