Planning applications

Who to contact about different types of planning applications, and information about how our planning process works.

Planning policy

We formulate policies for the Minerals & Waste Local Plan. Relevant policies are in the South East Plan, Structure Plan, Minerals and Waste Plan and district council bid plans.

Advice on applications

When we give advice to the city or district councils on planning applications.

We do not deal with:

  • domestic planning applications
  • listed building and conservation area consents
  • advertising consent
  • independent schools' planning applications
  • satellite dish applications
  • applications industrial/commercial developments that are not waste related

For these, you will need to contact your local city or district council.

Eco-towns

The government has identified 12 sites across England as places for potential eco-towns - new towns designed to be good examples of environmental design and construction. One of these sites is at Weston Otmoor, in between Oxford and Bicester. Local councils and residents are opposed to the plans.
