Do I have a say in what services I get?
After you are assessed we will advise you about services which are available. We will discuss with you:
- the type of help needed
- when it is needed
- who will be providing the assistance
- how long they will be with you
- your religious and cultural needs
- when the service will be reviewed
Help and support at home
We will discuss with you how the service will be provided and - with your agreement - ask your carer for their views.
We will:
- let you know who will be coming to your home
- agree with you when they come, how long they stay and what they will do
- tell you who to contact if there are problems with your service
- answer any general questions
- let you know who to contact if there are problems
- make sure our staff are suitably trained and carry ID cards
- give you a written copy of your care plan
- review your care plan with you three months after the service begins and then six to 12 months after
How much control do I have over which services I have?
Direct payments are cash payments we can give you instead of giving you a service. It's a different way of getting the support you need. You spend the money on getting the support you want. This enables you to have more choice and control in how you are supported.
Do I have to pay for services?
Depending on your financial circumstances, you may be expected to pay for or contribute towards the cost of your care. Following a financial assessment, we will give you a clear idea of what you can be expected to pay and how the charges are calculated.
If you wish to apply for this service or ask for more information, you can complete this online form or telephone Social & Community Services at 0845 050 7666.
