Scams

Scams are fraud

In addition to reporting a scam to Trading Standards, Action Fraud is the UK's national fraud reporting centre. They provide a central point of contact for information about fraud.

People are scammed, ripped off or conned everyday and we want this to stop. We believe that we can beat fraud if we talk about it. The service is run by the National Fraud Authority, a government agency that helps to co-ordinate the fight against fraud in the UK.

The online reporting service (www.actionfraud.org.uk) is available 24 hours a day, enabling you to report a fraud and find help and support. They also provide help and advice over the phone through the Action Fraud contact centre.

You can talk to their fraud specialists by calling 0300 123 2040.

"The little book of BIG scams"produced by the Metropolitan Police Service provides simple, straightforward advice to protect people from falling victim to the many scams and cons that are in circulation.
