Bands Make Hubbub at Bicester Hub

Published 15 November 2012

Young people in Bicester are making a big noise in the music industry, thanks to a grant from the county council.

The £6,000 awarded last year from the Positive Activities Fund has helped teenagers from The Courtyard in Bicester to build a live music venue to rival the best in the region.

Their fame has spread so far that they have just successfully booked the biggest and most exciting band ever to play in Bicester.  Revoker, the classic metal and hard rock band, will appear at The Courtyard on Wednesday, 21 November.

Jeremy Leggett, Early Intervention Hub Worker said:  “As part of the grant process we formed a music events committee to give teenagers the change to create, shape and lead events for other young people.

"This initiative has proved so successful that the committee is now responsible for marketing events and members have assumed roles such as talent bookers, stage managers and light technicians.”

Louise Chapman, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families added:  “It is fantastic to see how this group of enterprising young people have created learning opportunities to succeed in an incredibly competitive industry.

"Not only are they learning business specific skills but they are all the time developing their confidence and acumen, working towards nationally accredited Arts Awards.”

Revoker will appear alongside Sacred Mother Tongue, Korrozion and Overlord at The Courtyard, Launton Road, Bicester on Wednesday, 21 November.  The gig is open to 13+.  Doors open at 7pm.  Tickets £8 in advance from http://www.wegottickets.com/.
