Woodlands Outdoor Education Centre is situated near to Hay on Wye near the Brecon Beacons. It offers quality residential outdoor education courses for children and young people and a range of adventure activities for adults and other groups.

Located on the outskirts of Glasbury on Wye, Powys.It overlooks the River Wye and the Black Mountains and is close to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the limestone area to the south.

Activities

The centre is Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) licensed and all staff are experienced and qualified to lead groups in a wide range of environments. Typical activities include:

• bushcraft
• caving
• climbing tower
• cycling
• gorge scrambling
• in house ropes courses (high and low)
• kayaking
• mountain biking
• mountain walking
• open canoeing
• orienteering
• pony trekking
• rock climbing

Our courses usually run from Monday to Friday but it is possible to negotiate different courses style, length or content.

We also offer a range of National Governing Body (NGB) training and assessment courses as well as other training for teachers and leaders.

As well as the five day courses, Woodlands offers weekend opportunities to a wide range of groups of all ages and abilities. These include formal team building for staff; social groups or young people outside of mainstream education, for example, youth service or children in care.
