Woodland management advice

Professional woodland management advice for landowners and community groups.

mixed woodland in spring

This advice (from the Oxfordshire Woodland Project) may be to arrange thinning of congested woodland, felling and replanting of mature groups of trees, or varied restoration work aimed at bringing the woodland back into good management.

The project encourages owners to pursue a wide range of objectives to get the best natural benefit out of the woodland: providing, for example, conservation, landscape and timber benefits.

What a typical visit would involve

  • a woodland inspection
  • identification of a course of action
  • preparation and submission of grant aid applications
  • sourcing of contractors
  • review of work done
