Volunteer youth mentors

Mentors are matched with a young person and build a relationship over the course of a year.

The Early Intervention Service provides support for vulnerable children, young people and their families. We are currently recruiting volunteers to act as mentors to disaffected young people in Oxfordshire.

Mentors are matched with a young person (mentee) with whom they build a relationship over the course of a year. Usually they will meet up once a week for a couple of hours and occasionally doing something special such as a trip to the cinema or bowling. Over the course of the year the mentor supports their mentee to progress towards the goals which they themselves set at the beginning of the process.

Volunteer mentors receive extensive training, professional support and full insurance. Most of our volunteers find mentoring to be an immensely rewarding experience and young people report that having a mentor makes a real difference to their lives.
