Supporting People programme

Helping vulnerable people to live more independently and maintain their tenancies.

The Supporting People programme pays for housing-related support services. It is run by Oxfordshire County Council in partnership with the local district councils, NHS Oxfordshire and the National Probation Service Thames Valley.

How we help people

The programme provides services that help people do things for themselves.

It can help many different people:

  • older people
  • people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities
  • people with mental health problems
  • people fleeing domestic violence
  • homeless people
  • young people at risk or leaving care
  • teenage parents
  • people with drug and alcohol problems
  • ex-offenders
  • refugees.

You can also use this printable version of the Supporting People change notification form (xls format, 17 KB). This form needs to be completed when service users in receipt of Supporting People subsidy either leave your service, or change address.

Funding conditions

The government has issued grant conditions which dictate what Supporting People Grant can and cannot be spent on.

The Oxfordshire Supporting People Programme Eligibility Criteria document (pdf format, 75 KB) explains the conditions and sets out which tasks are eligible for funding.

Oxfordshire Supporting People programme strategy

Oxfordshire Supporting People Strategy 2011-2016 states the vision, values and objectives of the programme in Oxfordshire. It sets out how we will help those in need by delivering housing related support services with local stakeholders. See our programme report for 2008-2011 .

Commissioning body

Oxfordshire Supporting People programme is overseen by the Supporting People commissioning body. Find meeting minutes and dates for meetings.
