Gating orders

When we decide to restrict access to a route because of anti-social behaviour.

We have the power to gate certain types of route where we are satisfied that levels of anti-social behaviour, crime or disorder justify such action.

A Gating Order may be made to restrict the route at all times or for certain times or periods as may be appropriate to the circumstances. The power does not permanently extinguish rights of way, making it possible to subsequently alter or revoke the restrictions and reinstate public usage.

Gating order register

We are required to keep a register of current Gating Orders. A list of applications for Gating Orders, applications for changes to existing Gating Orders, and a full list of all current Gating Orders can be found below.

This register and documentation can also be inspected at our offices at Speedwell house, Speedwell Street, Oxford OX1 1NE, Tel 01865 815700 (during normal office hours).
