All settings on the Ofsted Early Years Register must follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).  School-managed childcare must also meet registration requirements.

Revised EYFS briefing sessions

Book on to a briefing session about the revised EYFS for June or July.

There is no charge, and you book your place through Step into Training.

You need the EYFS documents (May 2008 edition), reference number 00261-2008PCK-EN. These are only available online.

A new Early Years Foundation Stage will take effect in September 2012.

Ofsted factsheets

Out of school childcare and play settings should take note of the following Ofsted factsheets and guidance:

Regulating play-based provision shows how your setting can meet Ofsted requirements. It confirms that playworkers who provide play according to the Playwork Principles should not have to change their existing good practice to meet EYFS requirements.

Delivery of the EYFS in out-of-school provision explains the legal requirements for delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage in out of school provision, and Ofsted's approach to inspecting these settings. 

Evaluating early years provision in settings providing for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage before or after school or during holidays. This document is guidance for Ofsted inspectors.
