Childminders

Childminders are self employed caring for one or more children in a home environment.

Childminders provide care for children in the childminder's own home. They must be registered with Ofsted if they look after children under eight years of age, for more than two hours each day, for reward.

Childminders are self employed, running their own business and provide a service to the families whose children they care for. This type of care offers a personalised and flexible home environment service for families.
